Mamma's Visit

My mom came to visit us for a long (but way too short) weekend. It was so dreamy spending time with her. She shared so much with us but the highlight was when she and Mike let us all look through their huge telescope! It was amazing to see the rings of Saturn & all the gorgeous stars! Shelley & Adam and Sarah & Marty and all the kids came to visit too. We had such a great time!

My "Lifetime Movie" Story- Finding my Baby Brother!

In the early 80's there was this beautiful, young college graduate with a very wealthy family. She decided to come to Utah on a ski trip with some friends. On her vacation, she met a musician in one of the hot local bands. They hit it off immediately and fell head over heels in love. They were quickly married and had a beautiful baby boy.

She realized she wanted to be closer to her family so they moved back to New Hampshire. They realized their worlds were far too different and although they were deeply in love, they parted ways. The musician is my dad, and the woman's name is Pamela. Together they decided it would be best for the baby if he was raised with her name and without contact with my dad.

That decision was utterly devastating to my dad and he was never the same after that. Because they both had moved, they had completely lost touch. My dad thought of both of them every day and never kept it a secret how much he'd missed them. Through the years he'd always hoped they'd find each other again.

On August 5, 2009 my dad found Randy on Facebook. 26 years after he said goodbye. As you can imagine, this was one of the happiest days of our lives! We have missed him and thought about him and now, we're able to have a relationship! He is so amazing, and gracious, and says he holds no resentments at all. It has been amazing and I can't wait to see him face to face! His name is James Randall Goodman. He goes by Randy. Love him so much!

Baseball Summer '09

Kinda weird that the Stixx logo keeps turning out blue. It is supposed to be red! Anyway...Justin has been playing on 2 teams this year- Stixx for super league and Cubs for city league.Chicago Cubs Yeah, we've been insanely busy, but what could be more fun- especially since Emily & Brock have been to most of the games! It is such a phenomenal way to spend good quality time with the family! Justin has played very well & of course we are so proud. We've had lots of friends and family come out to watch and it had made our summer so fun. He has played short stop more this season than ever, along with pitching, 2nd, & 3rd base. He really wants to catch so we'll see if he gets to do that more. This is such a fun time of year for us!

Gary and Justin traveled to Omaha Nebraska with the Stixx for the "Slump Buster" tournament. They had an amazing time! What a great season!

Happy Independence Day!

We were invited to Rick's adorable sister Denise's house to celebrate the 4th of July. We had such an amazing time with our family and friends. We live in such an amazing country and I never want to take that for granted. This truly is the greatest place on earth regardless of your political or religious beliefs. Celebrating the birth of this country means more to me than you can imagine. Yes, I'm ridiculously patriotic and make no apologies for it at all! Happy 4th of July!

Johnson Family "Mini" Reunion

We had kind of a "mini" reunion this year. It was so amazing to see the faces we hadn't seen for so long. This is just a pre-cursor to the "big one" in 2010!! It was so much fun but far too short. Can't wait to see more folks next year. We just don't get together near enough anymore. It makes me so sad that my kids hardly know my side of the family or have no idea what our reunions used to be like. I don't really know what happened. Growing up we had reunions every year and we looked forward to them more than Christmas. My favorites were in Logan where we'd camp & play baseball in the park & had games and talent shows at the little hall next to the park. Our family was so close. Those were some good times. Hopefully this year was the beginning of the new Johnson Family Reunions!!
